Shuffle up and deal! It’s time to start watching the 2008 World Series of Poker. According to ESPN, “Tuesday night is poker night”. We’re getting this post out just in time too. The new WSOP episodes start tonight July 22, 2008 8-10pm EST. Here’s the complete schedule for those of you who want to know which events you’ll see in the coming weeks. We’ll also give you the events that, you’ll be disappointed to learn, aren’t on the upcoming schedule.

Events not on the upcoming WSOP schedule

We realize that there too many WSOP events to air in just a few months. But there are a few final tables we wish were on this schedule that are not. See if you agree.

Event 18 - No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball w/ Rebuys
Okay, so your average poker player has no idea, or just doesn’t care about 2 to 7 Lowball. But with a final table full of characters like Erick Lindgren, Tony G, Jeffrey Lisandro, and Mike Matusow, how can ESPN not air this?

Perhaps they didn’t want to bother teaching viewers how 2 to 7 is played. In any case, we’re left to wonder just how, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, was able to pull off another bracelet win. Does he even know how to play 2 to 7 Lowball? We’re afraid these answers will remain locked up, deep within the ESPN vault.

Event 20 - Limit Hold’em
Daniel Negreanu wins his fourth bracelet and you don’t even put it on TV! COM’ON! Due to his fun-loving and easy-going personality, Negreanu has been the favorite of many poker fans, including us. Even if it is Limit Hold’em, we still want to see Daniel take care of business.

Event 55 - Casino Employees No-Limit Hold’em
In the name of variety, why not let us watch our favorite casino employees battle it out for a bracelet? It would be worthwhile to watch part-time O’Sheas Janitor Custodian Jonathan Kotula mop up the competition.

Okay, so Jonathan is probably not a Toilet Technician. To be honest, we couldn’t find out what he did, but he seems like a nice enough guy. Maybe while he’s out Googling his own name, he’ll stop by and tell us more about his incredible win.

ESPN Final Table Delayed

As most of you have probably heard, ESPN has decided to delay the final table of the WSOP Main Event until November. This was done in order to build suspense, get more viewers, and develop the characters which make up the final 9 players. Some people have complaints about the WSOP Main Event Final Table delay. We tend to agree with the decision, and hope that it has a positive impact on the poker industry.

What do you think about the upcoming WSOP TV Schedule & the WSOP final table delay?
