If you bet on one specific number (this type of bet is called a “single”), and the ball lands on that number on the spinning wheel, you get a payoff of 35 to 1. If you bet on two adjacent numbers (a “split”), and the ball lands on one or the other of them, the payoff is 17 to 1. A “column” also includes 12 numbers; in this case you place your bet on one of the three “2 to 1” boxes at the ends of the table. The payoff here is also 2 to 1.
A “High” bet, placed by placing your bet on the box marked “19 to 36,” or a “Low” bet, placing your bet on the box marked “1 to 18,” pays 1 to 1; 1 to 1 is also the payoff if you bet on “Red” or “Black”— that is, which color will come up. (The 0 does not count for either red or black.) And, again, 1 to 1 is the payoff if you bet on “Odd” (any odd number) or “Even” (any even number).
