For the seventh straight year, Pokerstars is offering up millions in prizes at the World Championship of Online Poker, also known as the WCOOP. Play at Pokerstars for your chance to win entry into the series, with a prize pool worth over $30,000,000.

Since Pokerstars first introduced the WCOOP in 2002, the series has grown at a tremendous rate. In it’s inaugural year, the winner walked away with $65,450. Just one year later, the prize money quadrupled, and the winner, ‘DeOhGee’, took home $222,750. The growth hasn’t stopped, and in 2007 ‘Ka$ino’ won a whopping $1,378,330!

2008 promises to be a banner year for online poker players competing in the WCOOP. Between September 5 and September 22, there is more than $30,000,000 up for grabs. The grand finale promises to be huge! The Main Event is scheduled for September 21, and the guaranteed prize pool for this event is $10,000,000! Can you see yourself competing for your share of that kind of prize money? We can!

If Texas Hold’em isn’t your game, no worries. The WCOOP is comprised of 33 events that include Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, Razz, HORSE, 2-7 Draw and more. Every event in the WCOOP has a cash guarantee, with many of the guarantees being over $2,000,000.

Most of the WCOOP events have direct buy-in’s ranging from $215 - $1,050. The Main Event has a direct buy-in of $5,200. There are also $10,300 HORSE and High Roller NL Hold’em events. The biggest direct buy-in for the WCOOP is the $25,500 High Roller Heads-Up NL Hold’em event.

As of right now, Pokerstars has satellites for the WCOOP running every day, with cash buy-in’s starting as low as $2.20 and points satellites starting at 100 points. Using your Frequent Player Points, you can get a shot at the $30,000,000 in prize money without spending a dime!

Pokerstars also has Steps Qualifier’s for Sit N Go players wanting to get into the WCOOP. Players can start at any step level, depending on how much they’re willing to pay for their buy-in. Step 1 buy-in is $7.50, Step 2 buy-in is $27.00, Step 3 buy-in is $82.00, and Step 4 buy-in is $215.00. Pokerstars also offers players the option of using points to buy-in at any of the first four steps. If you want to enter at Step 5, the buy-in will cost you $700.00. Step 6 will cost you $2100.00 for a direct buy-in.

If you already play at Pokerstars, login and start working your way through the satellite tournaments. If you haven’t played at Pokerstars before, it’s simple to get started. Events not on the upcoming WSOP schedule

We realize that there too many WSOP events to air in just a few months. But there are a few final tables we wish were on this schedule that are not. See if you agree.

Event 18 - No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball w/ Rebuys
Okay, so your average poker player has no idea, or just doesn’t care about 2 to 7 Lowball. But with a final table full of characters like Erick Lindgren, Tony G, Jeffrey Lisandro, and Mike Matusow, how can ESPN not air this?

Perhaps they didn’t want to bother teaching viewers how 2 to 7 is played. In any case, we’re left to wonder just how, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, was able to pull off another bracelet win. Does he even know how to play 2 to 7 Lowball? We’re afraid these answers will remain locked up, deep within the ESPN vault.

Event 20 - Limit Hold’em
Daniel Negreanu wins his fourth bracelet and you don’t even put it on TV! COM’ON! Due to his fun-loving and easy-going personality, Negreanu has been the favorite of many poker fans, including us. Even if it is Limit Hold’em, we still want to see Daniel take care of business.

Event 55 - Casino Employees No-Limit Hold’em
In the name of variety, why not let us watch our favorite casino employees battle it out for a bracelet? It would be worthwhile to watch part-time O’Sheas Janitor Custodian Jonathan Kotula mop up the competition.

Okay, so Jonathan is probably not a Toilet Technician. To be honest, we couldn’t find out what he did, but he seems like a nice enough guy. Maybe while he’s out Googling his own name, he’ll stop by and tell us more about his incredible win.

ESPN Final Table Delayed

As most of you have probably heard, ESPN has decided to delay the final table of the WSOP Main Event until November. This was done in order to build suspense, get more viewers, and develop the characters which make up the final 9 players. Some people have complaints about the WSOP Main Event Final Table delay. We tend to agree with the decision, and hope that it has a positive impact on the poker industry.

What do you think about the upcoming WSOP TV Schedule & the WSOP final table delay?
